TUITION ASSISTANCE PROCEDURES FOR MARINES AND SAILORS NOT AT CAMP LEJEUNE
The paperwork can either be scanned and sent as an email attachment or faxed to our office at the numbers listed below. To facilitate transmission over secure networks and firewalls, the preferred format is to save scanned documents as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. Once received, it will be processed and returned to the student. Depending on network availability and proper documentation that is turned in to our office for processing, the average turn-around time is 24 to 48 hours. All emails will get a receipt response within 24 hours. If you do not receive an email stating we received your paperwork, it means that your paperwork was not received. Please resend.
The points of contact at Camp Lejeune are below (Click on their name to send either of them an email message). Please do not send a message to both counselors; send your email to just one of the counselors listed. Both Dayna and Johanna check each other’s email when the other is out of the office. This will help us avoid duplicate processing of military TA.
“Due to some email issues with servers overseas, it is requested that all students submit a military AND a civilian email address when submitting TA requests.”
Dayna Auclair – (910) 450-9080 [DSN 750-9080]
Johanna Rose – (910) 451-9127 [DSN 751-9127]
Fax Number – (910) 451-5512 [DSN 751-5512]
For Marines and Sailors on I & I Duty, please contact MARFORRES New Orleans at (504) 678-4396 or via email at mfreducation@usmc.mil
All military tuition assistance requests MUST be received and processed PRIOR TO the term start date.
Students aboard Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River are required to be screened and take the miniTABE test if they are not deployed. The screening sheet will be completed by the long distance education counselor once all of your paperwork is received in our office. The miniTABE test is WAIVED for deployed personnel; however, if you do not complete a math and English class while deployed, you will be required to test upon your return. |
College 101 Orientation. All first time college students must complete this MANDATORY orientation class (per HQMC). The Power Point presentation that you are about to view will give you general information that will help you to select a college or university. A completion certificate can be completed once you have finished the orientation. A copy of the completion certificate must be sent with your TA request form. This link is for deployed personnel or personnel stationed at non Marine Corps or non Navy bases east of the Mississippi.
TA Request Form. Complete an application for tuition assistance (LLN MCBLEJ 1056/4). The form must be typed. The completed and signed form can be scanned and sent to us as an email attachment (preferably in PDF format) or it can be faxed to our office at (910) 451-5512 [DSN 751-5512]. Be advised that this is only a request for TA, not the actual authorization form!
Counseling Form FY10. A new form must be completed each fiscal year. Students must read and initial each block acknowledging understanding of TA policy and procedure. Refer questions to the Long Distance Education Technician before signing. Both pages must be forwarded to Lifelong Learning. The Education Tech at Camp Lejeune will sign as the Education Counselor at the top of page one. These are the rules and regulation of military tuition assistance for the current fiscal year. All Marines should familiarize themselves with regulations listed at the top of the form.
FERPA Statement. In order to expedite grade receipt, we are requesting that each student complete a statement allowing Lifelong Learning to speak with their school and receive grades for courses that were completed using military tuition assistance. This form will stay in effect until it is revoked in writing through our office. Please fill in the school name in the top paragraph then complete the bottom section and sign.
Statement of Fees. This must be obtained from the student’s college or university. The Statement of Fees (SOF) is a document or series of documents that verifies each essential element of information contained on the military TA Request Form. Students frequently obtain their SOF by downloading it from their school’s online account, the school’s website, or in an email from their academic advisor or financial aid representative. A current SOF must accompany each TA request.
Curriculum. This must also be obtained from the student’s college or university. A curriculum (degree plan) is a complete list of courses required for a specific degree. Students obtain their curriculum in much the same way as the SOF. A copy of the curriculum for the degree the student is seeking must be sent to our office the first time you request TA. The document is utilized to verify that the courses the student is requesting will work towards their degree. If a student changes his/her degree or school, a new curriculum is needed.
