Announcements

Students can now submit military TA requests to the education center 60 days before their term start date.

All military tuition assistance requests MUST be received and processed PRIOR TO the term start date.

All TA requests from deployed or long distance personnel must be in one of our long distance counselor's email inboxes office by
1200 the last weekday (Monday to Friday) prior to the term start date. TA’s received after this time/date are considered late and will not be processed.

Due to some email issues with servers overseas, it is requested that all students submit a military AND a civilian email address when submitting TA requests.

How to Submit

The paperwork can either be scanned and sent as an email attachment or faxed to our office at the numbers listed in the counselor box. PDF Format is preferred.

Once received, it will be processed and returned to the student. Depending on network availability and proper documentation that is turned in to our office for processing, the average
turn-around time once all documentation is received is
24 to 48 hours.

All emails will get a receipt response within 24 hours. If you do not receive an email stating we received your paperwork, it means that your paperwork was not received. Please resend.

Your Counselors

The points of contact at Camp Lejeune are below. Please do not send a message to both counselors; send your email to just one of the counselors listed. Counselors check each other’s email when the other is out of the office. This will help us avoid duplicate processing of military TA.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Testing Requirements

This assessment tests Marines to ensure that they are ready to sit in college-level math and English courses. You are required to complete the online OASC Peterson’s Assessment. If you successfully complete this assessment you will be authorized to take two classes this term and for every term thereafter. If there are any deficiencies in your OASC pre- or post-test you still may be limited to one course per term until the deficiency has been corrected.

1. If you have already completed a placement test for your specific college or university you plan to attend, please provide a copy of the results/scores so that you can waive the Peterson’s Assessment.

2. When you complete the Peterson’s Assessment, you will have to provide a copy of your pre-test scores to our office. If you score 80% or above then you are clear to use military TA; if you score less than 80% you will have to complete the necessary lessons on Peterson’s and then take the post-test. You will have to provide a copy of both your pre-test and post-test scores to our office.

TA Request Form

Complete an application for tuition assistance (LLN MCBLEJ 1056/4). The form must be typed. Be advised that this is only a request for TA, not the actual authorization form! If courses have different start and end dates than they must be on separate forms. The signature requirement is below:

  • E-5 and Below = SNCOIC, OIC, and CO
  • E-6 and Above (Enlisted) = OIC and CO
  • Officers = CO only

Once the request has been processed in the TA system, a TA Authorization Form will be generated and signed by the Education Specialist. The form will be sent to you for a final review and signature. Once signed, you will send one back to us to complete the process and one to your school so they can bill the government. It is your responsibility to get this form to the school!

Statement of Fees

This must be obtained from the student’s college or university. The Statement of Fees (SOF) is a document or series of documents that verifies the term dates, course information, and course cost. Students frequently obtain their SOF by downloading it from their school’s online account, the school’s website, or in an email from their academic advisor or financial aid representative. A current SOF must accompany each TA request.

Curriculum

This must also be obtained from the student’s college or university. A curriculum (degree plan) is a complete list of courses required for a specific degree. Students obtain their curriculum in much the same way as the SOF. A copy of the curriculum for the degree the student is seeking must be sent to our office the first time you request TA. The document is utilized to verify that the courses the student is requesting will work towards their degree. If a student changes his/her degree or school, a new curriculum is needed.
