Yellow Ribbon GI Education Assistance Act of 2008

Through a unique program offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Palmer College of Chiropractic is making it possible for eligible U.S. veterans enrolled or about to enroll at any of Palmer’s three campuses to have up to 100 percent of their out-of-pocket tuition and fees associated with education programs covered for a one-year period. Known as the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, the plan covers all undergraduate and graduate tuition not already provided for by the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

As a provision of the bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program allows U.S. degree-granting institutions to enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. Each participating institution can contribute up to 50 percent of those expenses and the VA will match the same amount as the institution.

Starting Aug. 1, 2011, qualifying veterans who are current or incoming students at one of Palmer’s campuses will be able to apply to the Yellow Ribbon Program on a first-come, first-served basis. Those accepted will have their tuition costs covered for one year, beginning with the fall 2011 term.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is one of several ways Palmer College is supporting U.S. veterans and military personnel. At its clinics, active-duty military personnel, qualified veterans and their families are given free chiropractic care. Palmer also provides its senior-level interns an opportunity to work with a staff chiropractor located in a Department of Defense or Veterans Affairs hospital.

Current or prospective Palmer students interested in applying to the Yellow Ribbon Program should contact:
