The Personal Financial Management Program (PFMP) is provided as part of Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) through the Health Promotion Branch of Semper Fit Division, currently located in Building 302. The program promotes personal and family financial responsibility, through education, designed to enhance unit readiness. Periods of instruction are provided to units or groups upon request and can be conducted at times and locations designated by the unit.
To encourage individual participation, as well as spouse attendance, financial workshops are routinely scheduled to meet at the Semper Fit Classroom, Building 302, from 1300-1630. Class titles and specific dates will be announced in the GLOBE and through MCCS advertisements, or by calling the numbers listed below. Classes and individual counseling are open to all active duty, retired, and reserve personnel and their spouses, as well as DoD and NAF civilian personnel. All PFM workshops are open to Active Duty, Retired, Reserve Force Members, Spouses, Family Members, APF & NAF Civilian Personnel and their Families. All workshops are free. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES
60-180 minutes. Financial awareness and education briefs cover such topics as Using Credit Wisely. How to Manage Debt, Common Financial Pitfalls of Military Families, Car Buying, Creating a Workable Budget, and Understanding Your Debt to Income Ratio. Information is available on Consumer Issues/Consumer Rights, Pre-Separation or Pre-Retirement Financial Planning, and Basic Investing. Short-term credit counseling by appointment.
COMMAND FINANCIAL SPECIALIST TRAINING COURSE
A 40-hour course designed to train SNCOs and Company Grade Officers on how to develop a Personal Financial Management (PFM) training program at the unit level. Topics to be covered include budgeting, cash flow management, establishing/managing credit, debt reduction, consumer rights, risk management (insurance), and more. Participants will receive financial software designed to assist them in their unit training and counseling needs.
PERSONAL FINANCIAL COUNSELING
Individual financial counseling is available by appointment only. A unit or individual can call one of the PFM Specialists directly to set up an appointment.
