Life Skills if the newest section of the MCFTB umbrella.  Here at Camp Lejeune we offer workshops and classes that provide foundation skills for our service members and their families.    Some of our classes include the:

Before “I Do” Marriage Foundation Workshop— This is a two-day workshop offered twice a month for couples planning to marry or those married for two years or less. This workshop covers a wide variety of topics and focuses on how each of these matters affects the marriage and the couple.  Things such as communication, finances, expectations and roles, values and spirituality, personality, drugs and alcohol, resources, family, friends, in-laws, even sexuality and sensuality are all topics explored through this workshop.

Marriage Enrichment Workshop (Using the PREP Approach)
This two-day workshop provides an educational experience for couples that will enable them to enhance their communication and problem solving skills, prevention of marital distress, and the skills associated with effective marital functioning.

Family Care Plan:  This workshop covers the requirements of the Marine Corps Order 1740.13 A for Family Care Plans.  It also provides resources that will assist in the completion of their Family Care Plan.

Elder Care: This workshop covers the emotional challenges of dealing with elders in our lives as well as strategies to best support them.  This is a 1.5 hour workshop.

Four Lenses:  This interactive, fun workshop allows participants the ability to explore their personality based on four temperament colors.  Participants are given a tool to identify their strengths and weaknesses based on their personality inventory.

7 Habits of Highly Effective Military Families: Based on the original principle of Stephen Coveys 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, this course will offer military families the opportunity to apply these same principles to their military lives.  Highlights of the program include; being proactive versus reactive, starting with the end in mind and being able to see the big picture.

Spouses Learning Series- Provides Marine Corps spouses the opportunity to further their personal and professional growth through a series of developmental workshops and online courseware in addition to a one day motivational workshop offered on a yearly basis.

Marine Corps Family Team Building Information

Marine Corps Family Team Building was established in December of 1998 as a result of the merger of Human Services, Morale, Welfare and Recreation and Base Education. Several separate family-related entities with similar functions were combined under the direction of a Marine Officer to unify their efforts. Our programs vary from pre-deployment briefs and Family Readiness training to religious retreats. Though diverse, our focus is to build a strong bond between service members, their families, and the Marine Corps.

Every aspect of Marine Corps Family Team Building is geared toward assisting unit commanding officers and families in maintaining readiness. There is no cost for any program we conduct. The time invested by the units and participants pays significant dividends in the enhanced readiness, knowledge and preparation of the Marines and their families.

Our office is located in the Russell Marine and Family Services Center (Bldg 40), and we invite you to visit us. Our office hours are 0730 to 1630, Monday to Friday and we can be reached at 451-0176.
