I’ve been shopping at the Camp Lejeune Main Exchange for over 20 years and for 20 years I have always been a satisfied customer; however, this past Sunday, March 21, 2010 I was absolutely astounded at the quality of service I received in the electronics department.

I wish I had thought to note the names of all the employees who were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable throughout my entire shopping experience.

I have had a terrible time charging a GPS system, and then of course, add that it wasn’t purchased locally and that I’d lost a component of the charging feature… suffice to say – I’ve been more than frustrated.  Last week’s purchase didn’t work, so my intent was to return my initial purchase.  In conducting the transaction, all of my frustration melted away when a mere mention of my exasperation was shared with Jaime.  She said, “I think I have the answer to your problem!”  She promptly led me to a display of cables, cords and various other electronic parts.

After several minutes of communication – we figured out what I needed to do with just a USB cord – and then – if that wasn’t enough – she shared another product line that is normally carried by the main exchange, but was sold out.  Upon overhearing our conversation, another employee said, “I believe I saw those in the cage.”  Not five minutes – certainly less than that – I had yet another missing component to help me maximize the usage of my GPS.

While waiting for the above item, I wandered over to the cameras and – yes, with continued assistance.  What appeals to me here is that no one assumed I was just in “look around” mode.  What they didn’t know was – yes, indeed, I was planning to buy a new digital camera – I just hadn’t planned to do so on Sunday afternoon!  But – the enthusiasm and knowledge of your electronics team assured me that their recommendations, based upon my own knowledge of cameras, was sound and… a sale was made.

I came in to return a GPS accessory that didn’t work in my vehicle and instead spent nearly $400. (Tax free!) Your sales staff deserves a thousand kudos for not making assumptions.  Had Jaime assumed that someone my age wouldn’t know what a USB cord was – it’s likely, I’d have gone home empty-handed with only my return receipt to show for my afternoon trip to the PX.

Oh – and let me add… the concept of the USB port and the GPS carrier had such appeal, my husband returned on Monday to buy a second set of the same accessories for our daughter who has also lost her GPS mounting device and charging capacity!  Double Kudos!

“The young man who helped me in the shoe department was awesome!  He helped me pick out the right shoes for my feet for running.  I told him what I needed, even that I needed ones that dirt wouldn't show on too much and he was on top of it.  His knowledge of running vs. walking shoes and the different arches was great.  He even helped entertain my kiddos who were bored out of their mind while I was trying on numerous different shoes. ”

"I would like to tell you about a great experience I had today when I took my car to the Marine Corps Community Services, Camp Lejeune, Central Service Station to have my car inspected.  While I was waiting for the inspection to be completed I was reading the car's owner's manual to see if I could figure out why the auxilary power wouldn't work when I plugged my GPS in.  I started to ask the employees at the desk when Travis walked over and said it's probably a fuse but let me look at the manaul.  Travis not only went out to my car to see if the fuse had blown, he came back and said when the inspection is completed bring me your car and I'll check it out for you.  So, I did take my car over to the bay Travis was working and he took time to locate the blown fuse and put a new one in.  Travis made my day by taking a little time to help when he really didn't have to. I want to thank Travis for taking time to show that World Class Customer Service is what it's all about.  Thank You!”
