Welcome MCAS New River! My name is Courtney Buzzard, and I am your School Liaison.

As a former teacher and school counselor, I am looking forward to working with you to ensure that your child succeeds in school. As a Marine spouse, look forward to helping your family through the struggles and joys that come with being a military family.

The military child is as transient as their service member parent. They face unique educational needs. Parents can use this website to help their child make a smooth transition to a new school, find proper placement with in the schools, and find resources and tutoring.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or needs. I am would be happy to provide individualized assistance.

I am here to serve our youngest heroes, the military child.

School Start Dates

MCAS New River – Thursday, August 20th
Onslow County – Tuesday, August 25th

Mission

To eliminate barriers and build bridges for the academic success of military dependent children through networks and partnerships with our local and global communities.

Vision

A community in which military and civilian partners work hand in hand to successfully educate and advocate for the military child.

Goals

  • Understand and identify barriers to quality education for military dependent children in this area and develop solutions.
  • Seek to promote and educate the command, parents, our Eastern NC community, and schools about the unique needs of military children.
  • Make connections to partners who can provide support and assistance for military families and their educational needs.
  • Communicate information to allow families to effectively advocate for their children in the educational setting.
