Visiting Youth Organizations

The Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Office will assist with the planning and execution of scheduled visits of Youth Organizations not affiliated with the Department of Defense.

All requests must be received by the ODR Office 90 days prior and fee may be applied.

Due to current operational commitments, MCB prohibits training opportunities to visitors.

Some MCCS facilities and programs are open to visiting youth organizations.

Camping Aboard MCB Camp Lejeune

Do you get tired of the traffic and noise and just want to enjoy some quiet time relaxing?  Life can be very stressful at times and maybe all you need is some time in the great outdoors to set yourself back on the right track.  If you are looking for a place to get away from it all without leaving the immediate area then try one of our Recreational Areas for some time alone with nature. 

Brewster Recreation Area
            Brewster Recreation Area is a 122 acre recreation area located along the Northeast Creek River and Brewster Blvd between the base hospital and golf course. The park consists of 13 primitive tent camping spaces, one group campsite, and outdoor education center, canoe and kayak launch, several recreation areas, campfire rings, picnic areas, and staff cabin. Most of the Campsites are equipped with a picnic table, fire circle and grill with a picnic shelter. The park offers potable water and port-a-john toilets.

Call 451-1440 for Reservation.  Email lemairema@usmc-mccs.org Reservation must be made 48 hours prior to your requested date. All reservation will be made on a first come first serve bases. Payment is made at Building 1108 open reservation.             
              -Cost per single site $10.00 for maximum of 20 people
              -Cost per group site $25.00 for maximum of 50 people

Oak Grove Recreation Area
           Oak Grove Recreation Area is located outside of Pollocksville and is Marine Corps outlying air field. It is located along the Trent River and offers miles of trails, boat launching, 4 primitive camping, pavilions with picnic tables and grills. The park has potable water and port-a-john toilets.

            -Gates are opened with Key only.      
            -Cost per single site $10.00 for maximum of 20 people
            -NO Ground Fires are allowed

A Salt Water License requirement took effect in January of 2007.  Please visit the Division of Marine Fisheries at www.ncfisheries.net/recreational/NCCRFL.htm for complete and current information.  Further information about fishing regulations may be obtained from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission at www.ncwildlife.org North Carolina Fishing Licenses may be purchase at the Hadnot Point Exchange, the Onslow Beach Exchange or the Game Warden’s Office.

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune offers a variety of fishing opportunities for the hobbyist angler.  Ocean front, inlet and fresh water areas are available for fishing.  Information concerning these areas can be obtained from either the Gottschalk Marina at 451-8307, the Courthouse Bay Marina at 450-7386 or the Base Game Warden at 451-2196.  Base fishing permits may be required for certain areas and types of fishing.  Please visit the Camp Lejeune Game Warden’s website at www.lejeune.usmc.mil/gwarden/fishing.html for complete and current information.

It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune’s Natural Resources remain in good order for the next recreational fisherman to enjoy.
Always pick-up litter and deposit it in an approved trash receptacle.
Never spade or dig bait along shoreline that can lead to soil erosion.
Only use rowboats, canoes, or boats powered by electric trolling motors within the Base Ponds, to decrease the effect of pollution in the fresh water Base ponds.

A full line of fishing equipment is available for purchase from the Hadnot Point Exchange Annex (full variety), New River Exchange, Onslow Beach Exchange, Camp Johnson Exchange, and the Gottschalk or Courthouse Bay Marinas.

• $270 Fee includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Sat; Breakfast and lunch on Sun. 2 nights camping and 2 days white water rafting.
• $100 deposit due 15 Jul. $170 final payment due 14 Aug.
• Space limited to 10 people
• Open to all authorized patrons 13 years and up. If under 18, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Meet at Bldg. 1108 on Fri, 21 Aug at 1700 to travel to Oak Hill, West Virginia. We will be returning late Sun, 23 Aug.

Register at the Outdoor Recreation office, Bldg. 1108 (second floor) by 1500 on 15 Jul.
