Transition Assistance Management Program (TAMP)

Transition Assistance Management Program (TAMP) is a workshop designed to assist all active duty personnel and family members with transition to the civilian sector.  The first day of the program covers entitlements and benefits to include:  Veterans Benefits, TMO final move, Final Pay and Allowances, Financial Planning and Reserve Obligations/Opportunities.  The second, third and fourth day topics are:  Personal Appraisal; Career Exploration; Strategies for an Effective Job Search; Interview Techniques; Reviewing Job Offers; Support and Assistance; Labor Market Statistics; Translating Military Experience; Job Search Information; and College Bound information. All service members must attend the entire four day program in order to get their DD Form 2648 stamped, validating the completion of the program. Spouses are encouraged to attend. The Pre-retirement Seminar is a 5 day program (designated with a bullet, and in bold will be held at Russell Marine and Family Services Center.)

  • All TAMP workshops are conducted at Russell Marine and Family Service Center, Building 40 (Auditorium) unless otherwise noted.  Operational commitments may cause a change in the location. 
  • Reservations are required by calling:  451-3212
  • Attendance is mandatory no later than (3) months prior to the end of active duty service. Uniform is required.
  • Recommended check-in time is 0730.
  • Admittance Requirements:  On the first day of class, bring three sets of  the (Pre-Separation Counseling Checklist,  DD Form 2648,  June 2005 version [Click Here]) signed by your Unit Transition Counselor on page 3 of all three sets. Attendance of the entire program is mandatory.  Please do not schedule any appointments during this timeframe.

Pre-Retirement Seminar - is held quarterly, suggested attendance is two years prior to retirement and again within
6 months of retirement. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Brief covers all benefits, entitlements, and services
relative to the military retiree as well as the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Brief.

  • Attendee’s need to bring 3 copies of DD Form 2648, obtained from the Unit Transition Counselors/Career Retention Specialists,  on page 3 of all three sets need to be signed by  Unit Transition Counselor
  • Reservations are required by calling:  451-3212
  • Civilian Attire is authorized for the Pre-Retirement Seminar ONLY.
  • Recommended check-in time is 0730.

NOTE: **The Pre-Retirement Seminar is for Retirees only.

How To Obtain Your Verification of Military Experience and Training (VMET)

Only individuals with military service on or after 10/1/90 and have an active MyPay Pin

  • Go to DMDC website by clicking here

  • Click on CAC if you have an active CAC card and am logged in using that card (on left side) or “DFAS myPay PIN” (on right side)

  • Select your “Current Military Status”: and click on “Login to VMET” button.

THE REST OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR THE “DFAS MYPAY PIN OPTION”

  • Enter SSN (no dashes), MYPAY PIN NUMBER (You must have a DFAS PIN number or CRMC Staff will have to pull your record), Last Name, DATE OF BIRTH, CURRENT MILITARY STATUS? (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Retired or Separated (No reserve Obligation).

  • Click on “Login to VMET” (The system will verify against official personnel information)

  • Click on “Request Document” Tab

  • Once VMET is displayed click on your last name.

  • To print Click on the printer button on the task bar.

  • When finished click on “LOG OUT” Tab and then close Internet Window
