Coastal Carolina Community College
This well respected, inexpensive community college is located in the heart of Jacksonville, NC. It offers traditional college transfer and AA degrees in addition to several specialized certificate programs in the law enforcement, technology, cosmetology, and medical fields. Coastal also partners with the University of North Carolina system to offer a four year bachelor’s degree program for elementary education.
University of North Carolina Wilmington
This college is located approximately 60 miles from Camp Lejeune. The beautiful and growing campus offers a college education in the casual beach front community of historic Wilmington. The school is known for the well respected Watson School of Education and a strong marine biology program. Wilmington is sometimes referred to as the Hollywood of the East because of its active filming industry. UNCW is one of few schools to offer a degree in Film Studies.
East Carolina University
Located in Greenville, NC, ECU is a longer commute but still within driving distance for local families. They also offer an extensive distance education program where several degrees can be obtained either fully or partially online.
John A. Lejeune Education Center – Camp Lejeune
The Camp Lejeune (Building 825) and MCAS New River (Building AS-212) offices
are open from 0730 to 2100 Monday through Thursday and 0730 to 1700 on
Friday. Counselors are also available on Saturdays from 0800 to 1200 if
college courses are scheduled. No appointment is needed to speak with an
Education Technician for information or counseling, but an appointment is
needed to sign up for the Apprenticeship Program or to take a civilian or
